Summer 2009 is in

Last night, we went to watch Star Trek. The movie started at midnight and ended at approximately 3a.m. That movie was like on my must-see list; I am a Computer Science major; the movie is directed by my favorite director, also known as the Lost tv series director; and character Spock was played by my favorite actor in Heroes tv series. It was funny, full-of-action, high-tech, and diversified. lol because the ship’s most important crews were made of one African-American, one Korean, one German (i think), and Americans, of course. The movie was like the start of Summer 2009, at least for me.

Plan for summer: first I planned to do nothing on my summer lol secondly … bla bla bla … finally I definitely probably will end up in LA for two summer courses (i think it’s cute to use definitely and probably in one sentence even though it does not any sense hahaha), then go to Cambodia around mid-august. That’s what I’ve known for sure until now, perhaps. And I’ll be damned. The last time I took summer courses were in 2007. Wow that was classic time; took one speech class with Chamroeun and mostly sharing a bowl of popcorn chicken for lunch after class.

In my perspective, now, life in college was like “the life in High School when I was in College.” In college, one burning-midnight-oil night was enough for a good grade, or sometimes a bad  grade. You know what,

And now the laptop I love, but

.. I won’t buy one.

Adamo by Dell

Look at the

PERFORMANCE:

1.4Ghz/1.2GHz Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor with Centrino® 2 technology – Delivering breakthrough energy efficiency and performance
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-Bit
4GB/2GB 800MHz DDR3 dual channel memory
Wireless N, Bluetooth 2.1, one RJ-45 port and optional Mobile Broadband
More than 5 hours of battery life on a full charge

….

The design is beautiful, BUT the performance is too slow.

1.4 Ghz Processor speed? LOL It is so yesterday.[Comparing to my 2.4Ghz Macbook lol]

Well, it is designed for non gamers, non heavy application users [such as Video or Audio editing], and non gamers. haha I know I repeated gaming twice. And the price starts at $1,999 for 1.2Ghz and $2,699 for 1.4Ghz processor. Hey it’s lighter than the Macbook, by a half pound or 0.23 kg, if that counts. And and, for those who knows what a solid state hard drive is, it comes with 128 solid state hardrive, nice

I was excited to see it at first, but disappointed later to see its performance. Nevertheless, I think this laptop could be a success, because it is now the only next-generation designed laptop, as far as I have seen.

Here’s the Adamo website.

Spring ‘09

Hello there. Here I am again having lunch and blogging. What am I having? Well, I’m having rice with fried eggs, and instant glass noodle soup (yes it’s not nutritional). I couldn’t find time for a fancy lunch, and I prefer radiated and packaged food to fast food.

Sorry that I don’t blog very often nowadays because I’m trying to cut down my dependence on technology; virtual things (like blogging, online social networking) and electronic gadgets (iPhone, PC, music player). These technologies, the hyperreal phenomenon , just get us busier. I own an iPhone, and I find myself reading tech news several times during the day on-the-go instead of one sitting in front of my computer at night, so does checking email and playing games. The more things I own the more time I’ll spend on those, and the less time I got to realize my full potential.

I’m not trying to convince you guys to stop buying stuffs or whatever. Technology is supposed to save us time and make our lives easier. It’s not, however. Life is just pathetic with all those technologies.

Anyway, Spring Break was great. I got to spend time away from LA. I personally don’t like living in LA. The school and city life is depressing me.

Alright new quarter is here, Spring 2009. I’m actually taking one class with my sister, Business Law.First, I thought it would be fun, but then the instructor said “every Tuesday you come into this class, you should (virtually) put on your attorney hat.” Then, I was like: “wth! What am I getting myself into?”

I’m gonna end this post here, otherwise I’ll be contradicting the point I made earlier.

Good luck.

Here comes dead week

Hello there. I’ve been busy lately, and still be for the coming final weeks.

Recently I started to realize that I must have goals to keep me motivated, both long-term and especially short-term goals. I spent some times figuring out what my long and short-erm goals are. One of my long-term goals is going to a quality graduate school. And, short-term goals are a-day-long commitments; gotta finish this chunk of homework and that chunk of project.

And yeah, I’ve been more productive lately.

And my dream graduate university is University of Illinois, Urbana – Champaign. I guess none of you have heard of it? Right? Me too, well until several days ago.

OK. Why is it my dream university? Despite it ranks fifth in the world for Computer Science Graduate Program, its Siebel Center, the Computer Science building, is HOT (not the inside temperature, but in term of a girl’s hotness). The building just turned me on (now literally); it is said to be the most technologically advanced Computer Science building in the world. Here’s some pictures:

One problem: It snows!!

So, I’m planning to apply for the school’s Summer Research Opportunity Program next year inasmuch as it’ll increase my chance of getting in.

Besides this school, I will apply to UC San Diego, UCLA, Caltech, and USC, and one safe-bet school (maybe CalState Long Beach?). I’m applying for a joint program – Master of Computer Science and MBA. Any of the school offers me a joint program, I’m off to that school. My longest-term goal is to be a Chief Information Officer in the future, even for one week. and CIO needs 10-year of experience in both business and technology fields, and an MBA.

Talking about CIO, at least I will be the CIO of TOKMOO project when it goes public. HAHAHA. Me, Visal the CTO-to-be, and Seth toch the CFO-to-be are currently working on this project – a project which aims, at least, to stop college students from sending files to their own email so that they can retrieve it later.

Anyway, please drop by the TOKMOO project website (a piece of work from my productive days) to support us. We need support from friends. :D

Seriously you must drop by the project website.
